Maybe you’ve presented your idea one thousand times--but those numbers won’t work well if you don’t know how exactly people understand your idea.

And here’s how.

1. They Get The First “Image” of Your Ideas

This is why your presentation--whether it shows idea, opinion, or research report--must has a title. A title helps people to get a “first image” of your idea. People can judge your idea’s purpose, how it works, etc.. Remember that the first image people get is still unclear, and that’s why people are coming into your presentation.

Well, people are not just getting the “first image” of your idea by looking at the title. An image, a promotional video, or an article that anticipates your presentation also works to help people get the “first image” of your idea.

2. They Watch You Speak, Trying to Fill in The Blank

When people get the “first image” about your idea, usually there will be some lacks of design inside their mind. For example, if your idea’s title is “anti-gravitational car”, then people know it’s about a car which can fly--and of course they don’t need to worry about tire blast anymore. But, there will always be some “blanks” inside people’s mind, like “well, I know this is about a flying car, but how it will flies?”.

This is the main reason why people coming into your presentation about the idea. They are curious about how your idea works. Just a tip, if your audience is an average people, try to explain your idea in a simple way, with supporting medias if possible. Don’t explain with any mathematical equation, tough.

3. After All The Blank Filled, They Decide Your Idea’s Usefulness

At first, people already decided how useful your idea is for their life. But after that, they became so curious so they came to your presentation and trying to fill in the blank. They want to completely know your idea. Maybe after they know how much it will costs, they will decide to accept your idea or not--if it’s more expensive than what they have now, they won’t accept your idea, and vice versa.

4. Some of Them May Not Get The Point, They Ask

Some people may not get the point of what are you talking about. Maybe they still have some blanks to be filled. So please, when you are presenting your idea, try to accept all questions because people will try to fill in these blanks with their own way--this can make wrong understanding of your idea inside people’s mind.

5. Some Others Who Are Enthusiasts Ask More

There maybe a chance that some enthusiasts will come to your presentation. Because you explained your idea in the simplest way, these enthusiasts will ask a little bit “deeper” question. Maybe they’ll ask about the mathematical equation or something. Make sure you can answer these kind of enthusiast question.

Well, thank you for reading. If you still don’t get the point on how people understand your idea, you can ask them. I will gladly answer it.
