speak well in a huge presentation
For some people, speaking in the front of just dozens of people is still an easy thing. But, how about if there are thousands? It sounds a little bit scary, right? But somehow, I will tell you how to speak well in this kind of huge presentation.

1. Don’t mind about the size

This is the first thing I thought would be your first barrier of speaking well in a huge presentation with huge audience. I would likely like to say that there are at least dozens of people who have spoken about something on a similarly huge stage. And yeah, you know some of them did well, and some others didn’t. At least, there are someone who did speak well. Well, they’re human just like yourself, right? So why can’t you?

Whether you’re speaking in the front of just a dozen, or thousands of people--it really does not matter. The people you will speak to always have similar way to listen to you, whether they are much or few. So, please, don’t be frightened by the size of the audience you will talk to. Actually, much is fine, because there will be more people that listen to you, and there will be more people that, deep in their heart, want you to succeed in this huge presentation.

2. Everyone wants you to succeed

Remember that more audience, better. If you don’t have any “enemy” in your life, literally, everyone wants you to succeed, whether in this presentation, or in other things. They want you to do good, because when you do good, you make them laugh, you make them know something new, you will answer all of their questions greatly. Shortly, when you do good, they will receive something good also.

3. Compliment the place, audience, coordinator, etc.

Well, complimenting someone indirectly improves your relationship level with him/her. And, which is better, speaking to a group of friends, or a group of strangers? Of course friends is a better choice, right? When you compliment other, you indirectly improve your relationship--and in some cases, the person whom you’ve complimented will respect you back, and then you’re friend! Well, then, you’ve got more friend, and talking about something to a friend, or at least, surrounded by friends, is more relieving than just standing in your own feet and face those strangers.

4. Actively interact with the audience

Interacting with audience is a great way to improves your relationship with them--however, this action weren’t taken seriously by most public speakers. Most public speakers only interact with audience in Q&A section, other than that, they just keep talking, and the audience must remain silent. What I recommend here is to actively interact with audience. An interaction that will somehow improves your status with them, and get a chance to be their friend. You can do this by asking one of your audience’s name, and use the name into a story.

5. Joke

Joke is inevitably the best kind of “spice” we can add to our presentation. Joke makes the world funnier than smile. Yeah, of course arrogant and extreme jokes may cause destruction, but it somehow still make us laugh. I always recommend you to joke, not only in a huge presentation, but all of your speaking events.

6. Use simple visual design

One of my recent mistake is using great and complex animation inside my presentation slides. Do you know what happened? Most people’s eyes are just looking at the slide, and they seem did not listen to what am I talking about. This is even hurts more in a huge presentation. Well, I recommend you to use simple, minimalist, and clear visual design. A combination of color manipulation and great fonts would do well.

7. Don’t think too much

Yeah, most people feel quitting before they do huge presentation because they think too much of the things that will happen--even if it won’t likely to. I recommend to not to think too much about yourself. If you think you have a bad hairstyle, just change it in the way you want, and don’t mind about it’s detail. Just let it flow. Let yourself speak without any worries and expectations.

Yeah, I know maybe you still never speak in the front of thousands of people. But, it may comes at any moment. So please prepare yourself with these steps, and you’re ready to speak huge.

And one thing... Thanks for reading.
