I was shocked when I remember that most kids dream big. Then this dream lowered it’s standard - from “be a famous entrepreneur” to “be an entrepreneur”. People’s dream lowered because when people get older, their mind thinks more realistically and they started to use their common sense.

This inspired me to write a guide about building your reputation in the public speaking world; a world that is fulfilled with lions, the barker, the one who speaks loudly, others who speak calmly - yeah, like this earth, public speaking world is fulfilled with different person, some want to be famous, some other don’t. That’s okay, I think.

And if you’re the one who wants to become famous, please keep reading.

Here are the steps.

1. Pick a Niche

If you want to be a famous public speaker, you must pick a niche and master it. You’re not going to be a multitasking person with an encyclopedic brain. You must pick a niche and start focusing on it. Speak about it. And learn about it. Then people in this niche will know who they should call when they need someone to speak on stage.

2. Think Like a Pro, Speak in Amateur’s Way

When you have picked your niche, the second step you must do is to think and behave like a pro, but to speak and tell what you know in an amateur’s way of thinking - it should be understandable.

Thinking and behaving like a pro means that you mustn’t say “I don’t know” to someone who ask you about something in your niche. You must be the star, the most respected expert about your niche there. But do remember that your audience is mostly amateurs, so you need to speak in an understandable way.

3. Use Environment

You can use lighting, visual support, or even music to create a unique presentation. You can make a trademarked opening music when you walk toward the stage. You can also use different lighting color for different slide to create different atmosphere in each slide. Just try to make your presentation as unique as possible, then people will talk about you.

4. Create a Trademark

You can wear specific clothes, unique hairstyle, face paint, etc. to make a trademark for yourself. You don’t need to always look handsome and cool when you speak. You can wear fake mustache and detach it in the middle of the show to make the audience laugh. Wear this mustache again and again, and you’ve made a trademark for yourself.

Those are 4 steps toward famous-ness, of course in public speaking world. Yeah, I know these steps are difficult to do, but once you make a name for yourself, you’ll feel how “fulfilling” it is.
